Essences
Essences are lightweight, watery skincare products that sit between toner and serum. They hydrate the skin and prepare it to absorb the steps that follow.
Good to know: Essences
How an essence differs from a toner and a serum
A toner is usually the thinnest and prepares the skin after cleansing. An essence is a little richer and often contains fermented ingredients or plant extracts such as ginseng or rice. A serum is the most concentrated and targets a specific skin need. You don't need all three: many people combine a toner with an essence or replace the toner with it altogether.
How to apply an essence
Put a few drops into your palms and gently pat them into your face. Next comes a serum, if you use one, and a cream. In the morning, finish with sun protection .
We explain the differences between toner, essence and serum in detail in the Product Knowledgesection. The guide Your first K-Beauty routineshows you how to put the steps together into a routine. Currently available is the Ginseng Essence Water by Beauty of Joseon.
